Data in service of human flourishing

Common is the big data charity. We undertake data-driven projects to make the world a better place for you. Our insights help fix injustices, empower advocacy, and fight back against shady practices in housing, politics, health and safety, the courts, and workplaces.

Big data works almost exclusively in service of the ruling class, turbo-charging the housing crisis, the climate crisis, the social media machine, and the systems we all need to use every day. These systems should exist in service to human wellbeing and connection, but they don't.

Common is proving that a connected society doesn't need to reduce us to data points, but that we can leverage big data as a part of building a humane and compassionate society.

Data is insight-in-waiting, and Common is digging for a healthier, happier future for human beings, with projects that make immediate and tangible impacts to the world.

Here's what we're up to

Operation FTT

The Real EPC Project

Energy certificates say one thing. The buildings say another. We are measuring the gap.
